Junction city police have provided an update on a case that occurred on Friday.
Police are reporting an incident in the area of South Garfield and McClure has been resolved with no injuries reported. The situation began with a police pursuit on U.S. 77 that ended in this area, where officers successfully apprehended the suspect without injury to the suspect or any officers.
While police maintained a presence in the area, there was no threat to the community. JCPD officials were in contact with USD 475, and police confirmed that all bus routes were able to run as normal.
Assistant Police Chief Cory Odell confirms a suspect identified as Derek Watson, 39, Junction City, was apprehended on requested charges of deprivation of property and intimidation of a witness.
The 1000 block of McClure was closed temporarily and there was a brief barricade before the suspect surrendered peacefully.
