
RILEY COUNTY —The Manhattan Fire Department responded at 7:41 a.m. Wednesday to reports of a structure fire at a large industrial building located at 1105 Kretschmer Drive near McCall Road, according to a media release from the fire department.
When crews arrived, they found the contents of a large oven on fire inside a metal fabrication and manufacturing facility.
Firefighters extinguished the fire within 10 minutes of arrival. Crews remained on scene to ventilate the area and ensure the building was safe.
A total of 16 firefighters responded on five apparatus. Two units from Pottawatomie County EMS also responded. The fire was determined to be accidental. No injuries were reported, and there was no damage to the facility or equipment.
“The business did all the right things,” Battalion Chief Jason Hudson said. “They got people out of the building and alerted the fire department in a timely manner. This was a best-case scenario incident. ”The business is operated by PTMW, Inc. and the owner of the building is listed as Flint Hills Ventures LLC with the resident agent listed as Blake Bauer, of Manhattan.
Hudson also said he appreciated the support from Pottawatomie County EMS.
