Ronald E. Mangel, 89, of Alma, Nebraska, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on September 5, 2023.

 Born on August 25, 1934 in Herington, Kansas to Earl and Theresa (Mangel) Pawling. Theresa passed when he was just a toddler, leaving his maternal grandparents, Charlie and Minnie Mangel to raise him. He was a retired Union Steamfitter, Plumber and Orbital Welder. He was a very loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He “Loved it when a plan came together" and was always the Happiest guy in the room! He will be greatly missed for his sense of humor and his contagious smile. He was quite a character in his own right. An avid sports fan, a world traveler, a painter, a poet, a story writer and he loved to read.

 He is survived by his five children- Terri Werger, Rondy (Ross) Mussina, Rick (Susan) Mangel, Tami Mangel, Rod (Melissa) Mangel; two stepsons- Mark Herbel, Mike Herbel; 14 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Proceeded in death by both of his parents and his grandparents. 

Services will be held Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 11:00 a.m., at Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, 414 NW Third St., Abilene, KS.
