Joyce Welshans, 78, of Marysville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at The Lighthouse in Marysville, KS. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 13, 2022, from 5:00 pm. to 7:00 p.m. at Johnson Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 203 N. Washington St., Junction City, KS. Cremation will follow and inurnment will take place at a later date at St. Johns Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to The Lighthouse in Marysville, KS, or the Animal Humane Society in Kingman, KS.
Joyce was born on May 2, 1944, in Chapman, KS, to Carl and Josephine Schweitzer (Erichsen).
Joyce had a long career in the Federal Government with roles in Civil Service supporting the Marshall Airfield in Fort Riley and the Department of Agriculture running offices in Anthony, Junction City, and Manhattan, KS.
On November 27, 1963, she married William C. Welshans, Jr. They were married for 48 years.
Joyce is survived by her Daughter, Valerie (John) Starwalt of Green, KS; Son, Noah (Jen Fillion) Welshans of Littleton, CO; one granddaughter, Juliet Fillion of Littleton, CO; one step grandson, Kai (Madison) Starwalt of Green, KS; and two great-grandchildren, Tanner and Tate.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William C. Welshans, Jr.; her son, Daniel K. Welshans; brother, Jay Schweitzer; and sister Bonnie Freeman.
