SSG (RET) Dennis Lee Riley, 71, of Junction City, KS, passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, KS. Cremation will take place. A celebration of life service will take place 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., at 237 W. Vine Street in Junction City, KS. A graveside service with military honors will take place 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery in Manhattan, KS. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to be given to the family to help defray funeral expenses.
Dennis was born November 1, 1950 in Hastings, NE the son of Ora C. and Marian M. (Thompson) Riley.
Dennis served in the United States Army having retired in 1990. While serving in the United States Army, he worked as an Executive Chef and Baker. After his retirement, he was employed with U.S.D. #475, Geary Community Hospital, and Burch's Recycling and Salvage. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and bird watching.
He married Kim Chong Cha November 27, 1978, in Seoul, South Korea.
Survivors include his wife Chong of the home in Junction City, KS; three sons, Ora Riley II, and Walter Riley both of Junction City, KS and Jerry (Teresa) Riley of Windham, OH; one daughter, Sharon Riley (William Arnold) of Junction City, KS; four grandchildren, Angel Riley-Mendiola, Selena Mendiola, Amber Thoms, and Jessica Riley; three great-grandchildren, Aubree, Isaiah, and KJ Thoms; one brother, Clifton (Sherrie Merritt) Riley of Jasper, IN; one step-brother, Bruce Hagemeyer of Pella, IA; three sisters, Anna Anderson of Alliance, NE, Karen (Robert) McCloud of Mulberry, KS and Edna Florang of Blue Hill, NE; three nieces, and seven nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Daniel E. Riley and one sister, Hazel Overfield.
