
The FarmLink Project will be in Manhattan Saturday to give away potatoes.
The nonprofit grassroots movement founded by college students in March of 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, provides seamless logistics to transport surplus produce from farms to food banks in need, restoring the jobs of farmworkers and truckers.
On Saturday FarmLink and Food Rescue US will hold a potato distribution drive through event at University Christian Church 2800 Claflin Road in Manhattan from 9a.m. -5p.m.
In addition to a similar event Thursday in Wichita this giveaway called “No Spud Left Behind” plans to see 50,000 pounds of potatoes distributed.
The U.S grows enough food to feed all citizens, yet, many communities are food insecure. While people go hungry, millions of pounds of food are wasted every day. This event is a step toward to bettering the food systems in America, according to the organization.

In the last thirteen weeks, FarmLink has delivered over 5 million pounds of produce to food banks across the country.
On Thursday July 23rd (Wichita, KS) and Saturday July 25th (in Manhattan,Kansas) FarmLink and Food Rescue US are coordinating a potato distribution drive thru event! This large giveaway called “No Spud Left Behind” plans to see 50,000lbs of potatoes distributed in these communities in Kansas.
Coverage of this amazing event and distribution will show both other farms with surplus, and food banks in need, that distribution is possible.
