Thomas Moss Padgett, 82, of Abilene KS passed away at the Robert J. Dole VA hospital on February 15, 2024.
Tom was born in Rome, Georgia on January 15, 1942, and graduated from South Gate High School in California, in 1960. Tom loved to bowl and was part of a junior bowling team where he would travel all over California. During his life he bowled a perfect game on multiple occasions, throughout the world.
Tom was enlisted in the Army in 1964 where he served for 22 years in various jobs including Material Control and Accounting Specialist, Military Police, and Subsistence Supply Specialist. He traveled all over the world. Tom was united in marriage to Linda McCarty on August 14, 1971 in Las Vegas, Nevada, before moving to Abilene, Kansas. After retiring from the Army, he spent 15 years as a security guard at the Eisenhower Presidential Library.
Tom was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Linda E. Padgett. He is survived by his son Michael (Trina) McCarty of Manhattan, KS, daughter Mary (Dennis) Van Dorn of McPherson, KS, grandchildren Ashton (Jeff) Reitz, Zachery Van Dorn, Brian (Allie) McCarty, Ethan (Kaylee) Van Dorn, Shannon McCarty and 5 great grandchildren, Liliana Reitz, Averie Reitz, Chandler Reitz, Kadence Van Dorn, Halstyn McCarty.
There will be a service for both Tom and Linda Padgett at the Kansas Veteran’s Cemetary (5181 Wildcat Creek Road, Manhattan, Kansas) on Friday, March 15, 2024, at 11 a.m.
