RILEY COUNTY - The Riley County Police Department has entered the Emergency Accident Reporting Phase as of 3:40pm on Wednesday, December 21st.

Emergency Accident Reporting Phase or 'EARP' is used when Riley County has entered an emergency situation within the county that depletes the available resources within RCPD.
Most frequently EARP is used during winter storms, where numerous crashes tend to occur in short timeframes, which causes many of on-duty officers to respond to and take reports on the numerous crashes that the same time.
During the EARP, drivers involved in crashes that incur less than $1,000 in damage, have no injuries, and do not block traffic have 48 hours after the EARP is allow to expire to report the crash to RCPD.
Drivers involved in such crashes need to exchange information, such as, driver names, phone numbers insurance and vehicle information.
RCPD says all parties involved in the crash need to coordinate a time to meet together at the Riley County Law Enforcement Center to report the crash. This allows an available officer to take the report, make note of damages and provide police report information to all involved.
