Shirley Marshall, 93 of Clifton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at the Park Villa Nursing Home in Clyde, Kansas at the of 93. She was born October 1, 1928, in Clay County, Kansas the daughter of Carlos and Rose (Bowmaker) Knox.
Shirley was raised in the Clifton area and graduated from Clifton HIGH School in 1947. She married Derrell Marshall on May 22, 1947. They made their home in the Clifton area where they raised their five children. Shirley was a member of the St. Marys Catholic Church, St. Marys Alter Society and Clifton American Legion Auxiliary. Shirley was a homemaker until her children all entered school. She then worked for the local grocery store for over twenty years. After retirement she served as an Avon Representative for the Clifton area. Shirley was a kind and generous soul. She gifted many of her Avon items to children for gifts to their moms, the elderly and lonely in care homes. She loved playing cards with her family and friends*
Shirley is preceded in death by her husband; parents; three sisters, Georgia Barnes, Imateen Brown and Rama Sorell; two brothers, Bruce Knox and Darwin Knox; three grandsons, Shawn Flesher, Seth Marshall and Chris Finkbiner.
Survivors include her daughters, Tanis (Elmer) Finkbiner, Lawrence, KS, Joan (Joe) Flesher, Clifton, KS and Susan (Larry) Thomas, Clay Center, KS; sons, Stan (Ann) Marshall, Clifton, KS and Dan (Marla) Marshall, Clay Center, KS; 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren; sister, Lana Carlson, Clay Center, KS; brother, Ron (June) Knox, Edmond, OK and sister-in-law Verna Mae Knox, Clifton, KS.
Visitation will be held from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, March 13, 2022 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Clifton, KS. The Rosary will be recited at 5 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 14, 2022 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Clifton, KS.
Interment will be held in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, rural Clifton, KS.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, designated for a new handicapped ramp, or to Meadowlark Hospice and can be sent c/o the funeral home.
