Freeman Field will be a good location for airplane enthusiasts Saturday for the Kansas Aviation Expo. Owners of airplanes from multiple locations will bring them to the airport on the north side of Junction City for display.
Ken Mortensen, Co-Chair for the event, said activities begin Friday evening with the showing of the free movie, "Red Baron" at dusk near the terminal. Saturday there will be a pancake breakfast sponsored by the Experimental Aircraft Association from 7 - 10 a.m.
During the day visitors can view the planes and talk to the pilots. "We'll have two flight simulators that we're going to have up and going and so kids can try their skill at flying a Little Cub or whatever it is they're going to have up on there."
The Geary County Historical Society and a food truck operation will serve lunch meals.
Admission to the event will be $5 per vehicle. Mortenson noted that the Expo should run from approximately 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
