2 hospitalized after semi accident on I-70

WABAUNSEE COUNTY—Two people were injured in an accident just after 6a.m. Thursday in Wabaunsee County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2026 Peterbilt semi driven by Kenneth Tate, 48, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, was westbound on Interstate 70 at Todd Ranch Road. The semi traveled off the roadway to the right and came to rest in the right ditch.

EMS transported Tate and a passenger Nicholas Lorthe, 33,  Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to Stormont Vail.  Lorthe was in the sleeper of the cab and not wearing a seat belt. Tate was properly restrained, according to the KHP.
