The city of Manhattan issued a storm related statement via social media.
UPDATE (11:30 AM Jan. 5): It has now been more than 24 hours since we began our #PublicWorks winter storm response. The first crews who responded yesterday are now clocking back in as of 11 AM to continue response efforts, while the night shift crews take some well-deserved rest time.
Both Riley County, KS Government and the City have had to pull back crews at times due to near-zero visibilities and safety concerns, but please rest assured that they will work tirelessly as conditions permit to keep emergency and priority routes op
Snow plow groups will continue working through the duration of this storm (which doesn't show any signs of letting up anytime soon!) and continuously thereafter to get routes clear. It appears they are trending toward the 8+ inches projection below, so 24-hour operations will continue indefinitely even as we start to get into residential areas.
