WABAUNSEE COUNTY—Two people were injured in an accident just after 11a.m. Monday in Wabaunsee County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 1995 Chevy pickup driven by Oliver E. Schmutz, 83, Junction City, was westbound on Interstate 70 just west of Maple Hill Road.
The pickup rear-ended the trailer pulled by a 1998 Peterbilt semi and driven by Howard L. Hendon, 57, Plymouth, IN., who had slowed due to traffic ahead.
EMS transported Schmutz and a passenger Clayton E. Schmutz, 58, Junction City, to the hospital in Manhattan.
Hendon was not injured. All three were properly restrained at the time of the accident, according to the KHP.
