RILEY COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a fake online bank deposit.
Just after 1:30p.m. Tuesday, officers filed a report for forgery, giving a worthless check and attempted theft in the 100 block of McCall Road in Manhattan, according to the RCPD activity report.
The American Legion Post 17 and US Bank reported an unknown suspect obtained a check and made an online deposit. The estimated total loss associated with this case is approximately $2,500.00.
Anyone with information can contact RCPD or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. Using the Crime Stoppers service can allow you to remain anonymous and could qualify you for a cash reward of up to $1,000.00.
