Calvin 'Dale' Atkinson

Calvin "Dale" Atkinson, 89, of Branson, Missouri, passed away on May 2, 2023. Cremation will take place. Family will hold a graveside service at a later date. Memorials are suggested to JC Pacesetters, P.O. Box 411, Junction City, Kansas, 66441.

Dale was born on October 8, 1933, in Latimer, Kansas, to Lawrence and Rosa (Samuel) Atkinson.

He worked as a civil servant on Fort Riley for over 30 years. Being apart of the first to help install and implement fiber optics on post. Dale also served in the Army National Guard and received several awards for being the best Mess SGT. In addition to his primary job and family, he worked various part time gigs. He was a dedicated worker, father, and family figure. Dale was an avid Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals fan.

On June 2, 1957, Calvin married Ruth (Ball) Atkinson. Together they raised four children, until Ruth passed away 1986. On May 7, 1987, he married Susie (Steele DePew) Atkinson. They moved to Branson, Missouri, to enjoy their retirement and lived there almost 30 years.

Dale is survived by his loving children, Terry Atkinson of Branson, Missouri, Robert Atkinson of Nixa, Missouri, Cynthia Hall of Junction City, Kansas, Linda (Paul) Blais of Manchester, New Hampshire, DJ DePew of Oklahoma; eight grandchildren, Amy (Nate) Boeckman of Junction City, Kansas, Christopher (Crystal) Blais of Manchester, New Hampshire, Melanie (Ryan) Hall of Olathe, Kansas, Dawn (Joe) Lapietro of Manchester, New Hampshire, Cheyanne DePew of Colorado, Charlie (Zachary) Jo Ward of Branson, Colorado, Skylar (Drew) Williams of Nixa, Missouri, Joziah DePew of Nixa, Missouri; twelve great-grandchildren, Miles, Kaden, Braeden, Brody, Garrett, Bentley, Ariana, Greyson, Declan, Daisy, Austin, Josephine; two brothers, Clarence Atkinson of Chapman, Kansas, Clifford Atkinson of Wichita, Kansas; and a host of extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his two late wives, Ruth and Susie; two brothers, Cecil and Carl; half brother, Charles; and his granddaughter, Ava Rae Boeckman.
