An Idaho man arrested in Geary County in 2024 while traveling with packages of fentanyl has been sentenced to 70 months in prison, according to the United State's Attorney.
Brian Hilario Delgado Mayorga of Burley, Idaho, was stopped in May 2024 along I-70 after a sheriff's deputy witnessed him making what was termed an "unsafe driving maneuver." The 24 year old told the deputy he was traveling from Idaho to Missouri to see his grandparents, but failed to identify an address for his family members.
A records search indicated Mayorga had been spotted by license plate readers in California and Nevada the previous day.
Four thousand grams of fentanyl were found inside heat-sealed packages in the vehicle. A gun and nearly 15 hundred dollars were found as well as Mayorga was arrested and confessed to picking up the narcotics in the Los Angeles area.
