Troop deployments to a Victory Week concert at Fort Riley were topics covered by Garrison Commander Col. Gerald Nunziato during a Military Relations Luncheon in Manhattan on Wednesday.
The 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team just recently returned from a rotation to the National Training Center. The 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team is scheduled to deploy to Europe in the October time frame.
Approximately 4,000 civilian employees are on the installation. Nunziato noted that a hiring freeze has been in effect for them since the fall of 2025. It has been a struggle, but the employees continue to get the job done.
The direct economic impact of the Post in 2025 totaled over two billion dollars. There is a 58.4 thousand total population with a connection to the installation.
Work is under way to modernize the junior enlisted barracks.
There will be a lot of change within the division leadership in the next two to three weeks and aviation has sent their helicopters forward.
As soldiers deploy, families need community support.
This is Victoy Week on Fort Riley. There will be a free concert at the Artillery Parade Field Friday night with the gates opening at 5 p.m. It will feature LOCASH and Parmely plus Julie Golden and the 1st Infantry Division Band
