Linda Teresa Lake, age 79, of Manhattan, died Monday January 29, 2024 at the Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan.

She was born on December 22, 1944 in Manhattan, the daughter of Mark and Cecelia (Helget) Riat. She attended school in Flush and graduated from Monsignor Luckey High School in Manhattan with the class of 1962.

On October 7, 1973, she was united in marriage to Dannie Lake. He survives at their home in Manhattan.

Linda worked for Kansas State University as an office assistant for 25 plus years. She retired in 2015. When she was younger, she enjoyed going out on Tuttle Creek on the boat with her family and going water skiing. She also loved taking care of her iris garden. Linda was an avid KSU sports fan, she always had her calendar marked to make sure to know when the next Wildcat game would be. Her other hobbies included exercising, jogging and participating in 10k races in the area.

She was a member of the Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Manhattan. Linda coordinated the volunteers for the St. Joseph Perpetual Adoration Chapel at the church for many years.

Linda was preceded in death by her brothers, Randy Riat and Ronald Riat.

In addition to her husband Dannie, she is also survived by her children Scott Lake of Manhattan and Tara Henesey (Mike) of Spring Hill, Kansas; and her brother Mike Riat (Priscilla) of Edmond, Oklahoma.

The family will greet friends during a visitation from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. Sunday February 4, 2024 at the Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Manhattan.

A Parish Vigil will be held following the visitation at 5:00 p.m. at the church.

Mass of Christian Burial is at 10:00 a.m. Monday February 5, 2024 at the Seven Dolors Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Sunrise Cemetery in Manhattan.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions in memory of Linda to the Seven Dolors Catholic Church. Contributions may be sent in care of the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home, 1616 Poyntz Avenue, Manhattan, Kansas 66502.
