Margaret M. Snipes, 75, of Junction City, Kansas, died peacefully Sunday, October 23, 2022, at her home surrounded by her loving family. A funeral will take place 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 28, 2022, at New Church of the Living God with Bishop James E. Johnson officiating. Burial will follow the service at Highland Cemetery. A visitation will take place 5-7 p.m. Thursday, October 27, 2022 at Johnson Funeral Home.
Margaret was born May 10, 1947 in Denmark, Tennessee the daughter of John J. and Lillie (Batchelor) Smith.
Margaret moved to Junction City from Tennessee in 1974. She worked in the hospitality industry for the Hilton Inn Hotel, Fort Riley dining facilities and U.S.D. #475 School District as a food service and janitorial employee. Margaret spent many years volunteering her time at the Junction City Salvation Army. She was a member of Faith Tabernacle Church for twenty plus years. Margaret was mother figure for many children throughout the community. She always had an open door at her home. She was known for her nurturing personality. She demonstrated excellent cooking and sewing skills.
On September 18, 1963, she married Louis T. Snipes in Jackson, Tennessee. He died August 30, 2020.
Survivors include two sons, Willie T. Snipes and his wife Mary Snipes of Junction City, Kansas and Gregory D. Snipes of Goodyear, Arizona; three grandchildren, Shemika Snipes, Travis Snipes both of Junction City, Kansas and Chelsey Kyle of San Diego, California; one daughter-in-law Angelica Snipes of Phoenix, Arizona; one sister, Evelyn Smith of St. Louis, Missouri; a host of nephews, nieces and other friends and relatives.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of over fifty plus years Louis T. Snipes; one son, Tracey D. Snipes; one grandson Felix Andre Snipes; one sister, Johnnie Mae Daniel and one brother-in-law Tee Snipes, Jr.
