Wayne White, 83, of Junction City, Kansas passed away on Friday, February 10, 2023 at his home in Junction City. Cremation will take place. A graveside service with military honors is pending at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Wayne was born September 25, 1939 in Monroe, Louisiana the son of Jim M. and Elizabeth (Bessie) Frazier-White. He was the youngest of three children.
Wayne spent his early childhood in Monroe until entering the United States Army in November of 1957. He attained the rank of Master Sergeant (E-8) in 1979. During his Army career, he honorably served two tours in Okinawa, Japan, three tours in Viet Nam and one tour in Korea. After his retirement, he worked four years as a deputy for the Geary County Sheriff's Department. He also worked for the Grandview Plaza Police Department until he retired as their Chief of Police in 1995.
Wayne was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagle's Lodge, American Legion Post #45 and the National Rifle Association.
Wayne enjoyed coon and squirrel hunting. He also always had livestock to take care of. Wayne was often quoted as saying "animals were more genuine than People".
On October 7, 1983, he married Judy Norris.
Survivors include his wife Judy of the home in Junction City, Kansas; one step-son, William Dill and his wife Dee of Junction City, Kansas; one step-daughter, Angela Seldon of Virginia; four grandsons and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, eight brothers and one sister.
