Manhattan residents will get the chance to hear and question details about the City of Manhattan’s new five-year strategic plan tonight.

The initial draft of Manhattan’s proposed plan is available online through the city’s CrossroadsMHK website. Organizational efforts began in January of this year, culminating in the city’s first-ever strategic plan that focuses on the responsibilities and initiatives of the Manhattan government, helping administrators better prioritize services and programs.

The plan calls for five broad goals underpinned by the concept of sustainability - a prime concern expressed by locals through community input. The goals call for development of a well-run city organization, a connected government, enhanced network infrastructure, a strong sense of place, and a strong, diversified economy.

The plan, developed by planningNext, also details effective implementation of initiatives as well as reporting and monitoring practices to adequately track actions.

The open house will run from 6-8 p.m. at City Hall in Manhattan.
