Bernice A. Difilippo, 89, of Manhattan, Kansas passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 with her family by her side. She was born on October 14, 1934 in Steubenville, Ohio, a daughter of the late Jerry and Bernice (Zamana) Chmelovski.
Bernice graduated from Steubenville Catholic Center High School in 1952. She worked as a medical records secretary. She married the love of her life, Raymond Difilippo on August 15, 1953 and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to everyone. She was well known for her cooking and baking skills. She was a member of the College Avenue United Methodist Church. Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, David DiFilippo, daughter, Cathy Bise and 3 brothers: Jerry, Thomas and Stanley Chmelovski.
Bernice is survived by her daughter, Raelene (Lonnie) Dawson with whom she resided; her 4 grandchildren, Jason (Michelle) Geary, Amy Bise, Justin (Rachel) Geary, and Adam (Nikki) Dawson, and 13 great grandchildren, Braidyn, Adalea, Emilya, Ean, Lexi, Ava, Noah, Gracie, Sophie, Briana, Miana, and David. She is also survived by two sister-in-laws, Vivian Fretwell and Dorothy Crosby, including many nieces and nephews. Her family would like to extend a special thank you to Pastor John Collins.
Bernice's wishes were to be cremated with no funeral services. Her ashes will be entombed in Ohio at the family's convenience.
