Evergy&nbsp;announced that&nbsp;Wednesday's&nbsp;massive wind storm created&nbsp;the company’s&nbsp;the highest-ever power outage event.&nbsp;

As of 5 a.m. this morning, more than 1000 customers are still without power, according to Evergy.

This announcement came at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday after&nbsp;unrelenting winds surged&nbsp;out of southwest&nbsp;Kansas, across the state&nbsp;and into Missouri.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Gusts over 100 mph&nbsp;took&nbsp;down&nbsp;many power lines&nbsp;and tree limbs, causing over 200,000 people&nbsp;in the area to lose power.&nbsp;

Evergy&nbsp;said the unique thing about this storm&nbsp;was&nbsp;its&nbsp;sheer breadth –&nbsp;spreading&nbsp;out from Nebraska&nbsp;to Oklahoma and across&nbsp;the company’s&nbsp;entire service territory.&nbsp;
