MSG (RET) Willie Clifford Murphy, 82, of Junction City, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
A funeral will take place 11 a.m. Thursday, March 30, 2023, at
the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Redo Purnell officiating.
Burial will follow the service with full military honors at Kansas
Veterans' Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives 5-7
Wednesday evening March 29, 2023, at Johnson Funeral Home.
Willie was born July 26, 1940, in Columbus, Georgia, the son of Henry and Annie Mae (Williams) Murphy.
Mr.
Murphy served in the Unites States Army. After his military retirement,
he worked at Fort Riley in various maintenance and logistics positions.
He was a member and Past Commander of the V.F.W. Post # 8773 and the
American Legion Post #45.
On July 12, 2008, he married Linda K. Smith-Williams in Junction City, Kansas.
Survivors
include his wife Linda of Junction City, Kansas; six sons, Andrew
William Murphy, Andrew Williams and Walter Wadford all from Junction
City, Kansas, Patrick Broadnix, Greg M. Murphy and Carlos Murphy, all
from Georgia; two daughters, Audrey Ford of Wichita, Kansas, Michelle
Robinson Murphy of Columbus, Georgia, Lisa Taylor of Tulsa, Oklahoma,
Lynnetta Mays and Mahogany Wadford both of Houston, Texas; a host of
grandchildren, nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends.
He
was preceded in death by his parents; ten siblings, Henry Murphy Jr.,
Willie James Murphy, Johnny Lee Murphy, Betty Ann Murphy, Frank Murphy,
Robert Lee Murphy, Lula Ann Murphy, Betty Jean Murphy, Clarence Murphy
and Tony Murphy.
