Sixth Riley County resident who tested positive for COVID-19 has passed away

Riley County health officials have confirmed a sixth resident of  the county, a 91-year old man who had tested positive for COVID-19 died Wednesday at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka. The man had been a resident of Manhattan Assisted Living Facility.

The Homestead facility has not yet been declared an area of outbreak. Testing of staff and patients is ongoing.

Riley County reported 123 new positive COVID-19 cases and 53 recoveries since a report that they issued on Monday. A total of 108, or 88% of the new positive patients are in the 18-24 age group.

Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan is caring for three positive patients at this time.
