
Dickinson County Fire District #1 and the Geary County Rural Fire Department responded to a barn on fire on K18 near the Geary County line on Wednesday. First arriving units found the barn totally engulfed in flames and began a defensive attack. Other responding departments were Sherman and Fragrant Hill Fire and Chapman Fire manned the refill hydrant in Chapman.
While fighting the blaze, firefighters were battling a north wind over 30 mph with ice pelts hitting them in the face.
The barn was a total loss.
