Posted Aug 08, 2023 1:00 PM

RILEY COUNTY - Starting on August 9th, Riley County property owners will receive notices in the mail from the Riley County Clerk's Office.

Each notice contains the 2023 Estimated Ad Valorem Taxes and information about the public hearing for their area.

The notice is NOT a tax bill, and is only for informational purposes, no action is needed from property owners.

For more information about the notices, visit RileyCountyKS.gov/RNR.

On Monday, August 28th, the 2023 Revenue Neutral Rate Public Hearing for Riley County will be held at the Riley County Commission Chambers at 9:15am.

Kansas Statute requires all taxing authorities to host public hearings and send notifications to all property owners when the proposed budgets will exceed the Revenue Neutral Rate(RNR).

Revenue neutral rate(RNR) is when a taxing entity budgets the exact same amount of property tax revenue, in dollars, for the upcoming budget year as they did for the current year.

An example includes: If a taxing entity uses $1 million of property tax revenue in 2023, being revenue neutral means they plan to only use $1 million in 2024 as well.
