MANHATTAN, Kan.&nbsp;–<a>&nbsp;</a>Kansas State head coach&nbsp;Chris Klieman&nbsp;put together the final pieces of his third signing class in Manhattan on Wednesday as two more student-athletes have agreed to be part of the Wildcat football program.

Officially signing on Wednesday were Manhattan defensive tackle&nbsp;Damian Ilalio&nbsp;and Topeka defensive back&nbsp;Desmond Purnell.

Coupled with the early signing period, K-State’s 2021 Signing Class features 16 high school student-athletes.

This year’s class includes 10 players on defense and six on offense. The class is comprised of four defensive backs, three linebackers, two apiece of defensive tackles, offensive linemen and wide receivers, a defensive end, one running back and a quarterback. The state of Kansas led the way with six signees, while there were two from Colorado and two from Georgia.

Of the 16 total signees, five are currently on campus and will take part in spring practices, which begin on Wednesday, March 3.

Parking passes will be sold exclusively through AT&amp;T Stadium. Pricing and availability information will come at a later date. The Texas Tech Red Raiders, a 2019 College World Series qualifier, visit Tointon Family Stadium for a three-game set beginning Thursday, April 1. The Wildcats’ home conference slate also features Oklahoma (April 16-18), West Virginia (April 23-25) and TCU (May 20-22).

The Cats will host non-conference opponents in Arkansas-Pine Bluff (April 6-7), Northern Colorado (April 13-14), Missouri (April 27) and Texas Southern (April 30-May 2).

The Wildcats return their entire starting lineup from a season ago, highlighted by a weekend rotation that features Big 12 Preseason Pitcher of the Year Jordan Wicks, Connor McCullough and Carson Seymour. K-State’s pitching staff boasted the nation’s sixth-best ERA at 2.07 while allowing just 5.6 hits per nine innings, the fourth-best rate in the country.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Kansas City Chiefs placed a pair of backups, wide receiver Demarcus Robinson and center Daniel Kilgore, on the COVID-19 list as close contacts as they begin their final preparations for the Super Bowl against Tampa Bay. 

Chiefs coach Andy said Monday he was told of the situation Sunday but could provide no other information. Neither of the players actually tested positive for COVID-19, which means Robinson — a regular contributor — and Kilgore could still play in the Super Bowl. Both would need to return negative tests throughout the week to get off the list.

The Bears moved to 15-0 with their second lopsided victory over Kansas State. Baylor last month became the first opponent since 1992 to score 100 points at Kansas State in a 31-point victory. 

Nijel Pack had 11 points for 5-12 Kansas State, which has lost its last eight games. It is the first time since 1978-79 that Baylor twice scored 100 points against the same opponent in the same season.

Wicks tallied 26 strikeouts while issuing only four walks. His 0.35 earned run average ranked 10th&nbsp;in the nation and was tops in the Big 12 among starters. His WHIP of 0.65 was the 18th-best mark in the country and second in the conference.

In his career, Wicks has a 9-3 record in 19 starts while boasting a 2.85 earned run average with 112 strikeouts against 30 walks. He was named 2019 Big 12 Freshman of the Year and a freshman all-American after going 6-3 with a 3.61 ERA while setting K-State freshman records with 86 strikeouts and 84 2/3 innings pitched.

MANHATTAN, Kan.&nbsp;–&nbsp;<a></a>Kansas State defensive end&nbsp;Wyatt Hubert&nbsp;begins his path to the NFL Draft this week as he takes part in the 2021 Reese’s Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama.

Hubert, a two-time First Team All-Big 12 performer, will be making the 10th&nbsp;appearance by a Wildcat in the Senior Bowl since 2012 and the second by a defensive end in the last five years (Jordan Willis, 2017).

A product of Topeka, Kansas, Hubert will be on the American Team led by the Carolina Panthers’ coaching staff. Panthers head coach Matt Rhule coached against Hubert on two occasions as he was the head coach at Baylor from 2017 to 2019.

Senior Bowl week begins on Tuesday with the first of three days of practices. The game will be held on Saturday and kicks off at 1:30 p.m., inside Hancock Whitney Stadium and will be televised by NFL Network.

MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) — Miles McBride scored 18 points to help No. 14 West Virginia beat Kansas State 69-47 on Saturday in the Mountaineers’ first game in two weeks because of COVID-19 protocols.

 Jalen Bridges added 12 points and Taz Sherman had 10 for West Virginia. Mike McGuirl led Kansas State with 15 points, and Selton Miguel had 10. The Wildcats had 28 turnovers, the most by a Big 12 team this season and the most in a game under coach Bruce Weber. West Virginia scored 26 points off those mistakes. The Wildcats got within eight points in the second half, but Sherman hit a two 3-pointers in an 8-0 run for West Virginia.
