&nbsp; Andrew "Andy" Odell, 90 of Abilene passed away July 13, 2024. He was born June 9, 1934 in Oakland, California, the son of Harry Clay Odell and Myrtle Margaret (Miller) Odell, Piva. He enlisted in the United States of America Air Force May 13, 1953 and was honorably discharged May 12, 1957. On June 30, 1956 he was united in marriage to Norma Forgue at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Zurich, Kansas.

Andy worked as an Auto Mechanic at Gagelman-Vincent Motor Company, Plainville, Kansas, Peterson Pontiac, and Gus Reed Auto Service, Salina, Kansas. Andy attended Kansas Technical Institute, Salina, Kansas. Andy worked as an Engineer for Wilson Company Engineering in Salina, Kansas and ABB &amp; Combustion Engineering in Abilene, Kansas. 

After Retirement Andy directed tours for Village Tours in Yoder, Kansas. Owned &amp; operated Odell Shoe and Boot repair in Abilene, Kansas, and spent time building an flying radio controlled airplanes. Andy is survived by his loving wife Norma. Daughters; Shannon Lawrence and husband Jeff, Carolyn Odell, Son; Troy Odell and wife Deb. Grandchildren: Kurt Lawrence (Angelina); Kris Lawrence; Aaron Odell; Troy Odell Jr; Priscilla Schultz (Jay). Paulette Todd, 66, of Miltonvale, Kansas, died on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at her residence. &nbsp;She was born on July 8, 1958, the daughter of Virginia Railsback. &nbsp;Paulette grew up in the Salina area and worked as a dietary aide at the Miltonvale Manor for several years.

She was one of the toughest people you could meet and was willing to help anyone at any time.&nbsp; Paulette loved animals, especially cats and wolves, she enjoyed having fun with her friends and family and especially loved her grandkids.

She is preceded in death by her mother and brother, Stan Baker.

She is survived by her sons, Kyle and his wife, Jamie Todd of Clay Center, Kansas, Nathan and his wife, Jessica Willard of Culver, Kansas and Nick Willard of Miltonvale, Kansas; daughters, Cassie Todd of Hastings, Nebraska, Angie Todd of Hastings, Nebraska and Chellsea Enoch of Miltonvale, Kansas; 9 grandchildren, Izac Willard, Leland Willard, Benjamin Willard, Liam Todd, Daxton Todd, Tatum Todd, Brooklynn Willard, Michael Willard and Jenny Willard; companion, Scott Enoch of Miltonvale, Kansas; sisters, Kayla Holler of McPherson, Kansas and Misty and husband Bill Davies of Miltonvale, Kansas and nephews, Zac Holler, Thomas Barleen, Dominic Davies, Derek Davies and Daniel Davies.

Patrick “Chris” Adams, 65, of Wamego, Kansas passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, following a battle with cancer. Born on October 24, 1958, in Dallas, Texas, Chris attended Wamego High School, and Kansas State University. He married Penny Prockish on December 29, 1990. In 2000 Chris and Penny welcomed their only child, Shelby, into the world. Chris was a familiar face in town, working at Dyers IGA for more than 20 years. He worked at Caterpillar Work Tools for 25 years, most recently as a Product Control Change Technician.

Known for his genuine smile and joyful demeanor, Chris was a friend to all who had the opportunity to meet him. He is remembered for the love and kindness he showed to his friends, community and especially his family. Chris was most fulfilled by his life at home with wife of 33 years, Penny, and daughter, Shelby. He enjoyed long drives around Wamego and surrounding areas with his daughter and cheering on the Texas Longhorns and Dallas Cowboys.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Boyd Adams and Carolyn Pannell, step-father Wayne Hogan, mother-in-law Barbara Prockish, brother Mike Adams, and brother-in-law Ed Bolton. He is survived by wife, Penny Adams, daughter Shelby Adams of the home, sister Beth Bolton, Salado, Texas, step-mother Shirley Hogan, Taft, Tennessee, Penny’s siblings and their spouses, 8 nieces and nephews and 6 great nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

A private burial will be held at St. Bernards Cemetery with a celebration of life to be held on August 24th at 2 p.m. at Iron Clad in Wamego, KS. &nbsp;Donna Raye (née Bergsten) Sesler, age 86, of Manhattan and a resident of Meadowlark’s Miller House since 2017, passed away peacefully at Good Shepherd Homecare &amp; Hospice after a brief andsudden illness.

&nbsp;Donna was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, William (Bill) Sesler who to her great surprise passed away on her birthday in 2021. Providentially, she was reunited with her “Billy boy” on his birthday. They had married on Valentine’s Day and had only been significantly separated during their marriage by the pandemic response for 11 months but were joyfully and sweetly reunited after their long-forced isolation on the day of their anniversary, Valentine’s Day.

&nbsp;Donna was born and raised in the Blue Valley area where her Swedish immigrant parents farmed before the family eventually settled in the Wamego area. She followed her sister Darlene to Topeka to start a job with the state the Monday following her high school graduation, before eventually returning to Manhattan to live with her grandmother and work in the Chemistry Department at Kansas State where she met Bill who at the time and during his 47-year career worked in the Controller’s office. She admired his energy and punctuality and the rest as they say, is history.

&nbsp;They raised two boys in an era when the wife was expected to be the homemaker (aka “domestic engineer” as that term was used in 1970’s) when so many of today’s conveniences did not exist. Meals from scratch had to be cooked, clothes required hanging to dry and two energetic and constantly fighting and playing boys had to be raised, chased, and even deservedly disciplined when needed. Mom was a wonderful cook and a superb baker leaving her family with sweet memories of delicious desserts from basics such as Toll House chocolate chip cookies to the more intricate cream puffs and an all-time favorite, cherry cream cheese dessert. Sunday meals were always special, and she believed in cooking a separate meal every day. During their time at Marlatt grade school, the family had lunch and dinner together daily in a quintessential Father Knows Best nuclear family style.

&nbsp; &nbsp; Mom was very sharp of mind and memory who continued her love of learning her entire life.&nbsp; While at Meadowlark, her favorite activity was reading and learning from the internet- her lifeline to the world at large. Even though separated by much distance, she never forgot a birthday of her sons and grandkids, as they always received well in advance a gift and a card with a handwritten note. In retirement, Bill and Donna enjoyed travel and touring nearby Kansas towns, lunching at locally owned restaurants.

&nbsp;Donna treasured her grandchildren, eagerly anticipating their all too brief visits each year. Their pictures surrounded her in her residence and in her final hours she was not only surrounded by their pictures, but by their kind, emotional and loving words. Two of them wanted to share their remembrances.

Desiring contact that can’t be found on the phone

Growing up some of our fondest memories as a family was making the trip up to Manhattan, Kansas from Miami, Florida to visit our grandparents. Every summer we went, we had such a great time spending the days with Grandma whether it was just going out to eat breakfast or hanging inside the house playing her favorite game of solitaire. My favorite memory with our grandma was when my Dad’s side of the family and my uncle’s side of the family ate at IHOP after our grandfather’s funeral. It was the first time in over a decade both sides of the family were in Kansas together and it was a beautiful representation of community and family despite normally being thousands of miles apart. Outside of the time we spent In Kansas over the summers, it was always a great treat being able to call my grandma over the phone. Her joyful and overwhelming love for us was always felt through the phone. She has always been a beacon of light and joy.

&nbsp; Donna was also preceded in death by her parents, Pauline (née Lundin), and Carl Bergsten her older sister Darlene Marshall, and her older brother Donald (Donnie) Bergsten. Donna is survived by her boys, Tim (Myrla) and Chris, six grandchildren (William, Mikaela, Tatiana, Vanessa, Sabrina and Alicia) and 5 great-grandchildren (Bailey, Colette, Jackson, Dillon and Kian), her brother, David, and many nieces and nephews.

&nbsp; A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday (August 7, 2024) at 11:00 a.m. at the Campenella &amp; Stewart Funeral Home, Wamego, Kansas.

Donna Sesler

Vada V Brabb Ramsour passed away on July 17, 2024 at the age of 99 years and 6 weeks of age. She was a resident of Morris County Assisted Living in Council Grove, Ks. She was the wife of Harris E. Ramsour, who preceded her in death on Dec. 13, 2016. Her children are Colleen Marie Anderson and Patricia Lee Schneider, of Council Grove, Ks; Tena Jill Brucken (Galen) of Soldier Ks; and Rocky Mason Ramsour of rural Geary County.

Grandchildren are Dennis Russell Anderson (Kathy) of Council Grove, Ks; Brian Walker Anderson of Leavenworth, Ks; Jeffry Harold Feldhausen of Burns, Ks and Scott Haven Feldhausen (Nichole) of St. George Ks.

Great Grandchildren are Rebecca Taylor Anderson and Amanda Renee Anderson of Council Grove; Celestiana Renee Feldhausen of Michigan and Donovan Walker Feldhausen of Topeka, Ks; Jonas Walker Anderson and Anya Grace Anderson of Leavenworth, Ks and Adaylnn Feldhausen and Logan Walker Feldhausen of St. George Ks.

Great-Great granddaughters are Keira Lynn Anderson, Milah Faye Anderson, Wren Janay Anderson of Council Grove.

Harris and Vada were raised in Rural Geary and Wabaunsee counties but lived less than a mile apart. Her parents were William Madison Brabb and Elva Loraine Sission Brabb. Her brothers were Harvey Brabb, Kenneth Brabb and Marven Brabb. Her sister was Mary Brabb Tulley. All preceded her in death.

Harris said of the relationship that he was just being Biblical. It says to “love your neighbor”, so he did.

They were married at the Dwight parsonage of the Presbyterian Church on April 11, 1944 with her brother, Harvey Brabb and her cousin Pearl Horne attending.

Vada was the wife of a farmer and dairyman, meaning she did the usual work of having a farm and family. She was milkmaid, gardener, seamstress and found comfort in playing her piano and organ. Most of her tunes were ‘played by ear’. They included hymns, country and popular music of her time. She was able to share her piano playing with great granddaughter when she first went to live at MCH Assisted Living. She and Harris participated in square dancing and community card parties. Vada was a 60-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She served in many offices and was a district aide. As chapters consolidated, she belonged to the Alta Vista, Dwight, White City and currently, Miriam chapter of Emporia. She saved time for her family through 4-H projects, Welcome Presbyterian Church and Ladies Aide Society. She was a member of the Simpson United Methodist Church and helped with several Bible School activities.

Celebration of Life is August 3, 2024, 1:30-3 pm at the Alta Vista Masonic Hall, 705 Main Street, Alta Vista KS.

Her children are Colleen Marie Anderson and Patricia Lee Schneider, of Council Grove, Ks; Tena Jill Brucken (Galen) of Soldier Ks; and Rocky Mason Ramsour of rural Geary County.Grandchildren are Dennis Russell Anderson (Kathy) of Council Grove, Ks; Brian Walker Anderson of Leavenworth, Ks; Jeffry Harold Feldhausen of Burns, Ks and Scott Haven Feldhausen (Nichole) of St. George Ks.Great Grandchildren are Rebecca Taylor Anderson and Amanda Renee Anderson of Council Grove; Celestiana Renee Feldhausen of Michigan and Donovan Walker Feldhausen of Topeka, Ks; Jonas Walker Anderson and Anya Grace Anderson of Leavenworth, Ks and Adaylnn Feldhausen and Logan Walker Feldhausen of St. George Ks.Great-Great granddaughters are Keira Lynn Anderson, Milah Faye Anderson, Wren Janay Anderson of Council Grove.Harris and Vada were raised in Rural Geary and Wabaunsee counties but lived less than a mile apart. Her parents were William Madison Brabb and Elva Loraine Sission Brabb. Her brothers were Harvey Brabb, Kenneth Brabb and Marven Brabb. Her sister was Mary Brabb Tulley. All preceded her in death.Harris said of the relationship that he was just being Biblical. It says to “love your neighbor”, so he did.They were married at the Dwight parsonage of the Presbyterian Church on April 11, 1944 with her brother, Harvey Brabb and her cousin Pearl Horne attending.Vada was the wife of a farmer and dairyman, meaning she did the usual work of having a farm and family. She was milkmaid, gardener, seamstress and found comfort in playing her piano and organ. Most of her tunes were ‘played by ear’. They included hymns, country and popular music of her time. She was able to share her piano playing with great granddaughter when she first went to live at MCH Assisted Living. She and Harris participated in square dancing and community card parties. Vada was a 60-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She served in many offices and was a district aide. As chapters consolidated, she belonged to the Alta Vista, Dwight, White City and currently, Miriam chapter of Emporia. She saved time for her family through 4-H projects, Welcome Presbyterian Church and Ladies Aide Society. She was a member of the Simpson United Methodist Church and helped with several Bible School activities.Celebration of Life is August 3, 2024, 1:30-3 pm at the Alta Vista Masonic Hall, 705 Main Street, Alta Vista KS.Final interment will be at the Welcome Cemetery, 1 mile West of Hwy 177 on Old 13 Road, following the visitation in Alta Vista. Margaret (Joan) Annenberg, age 78, passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2024, at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan, KS. She was born on May 17, 1946, to parents Elmer Earl and Margaret Willis (Trower) Willyard, Manhattan, KS.

Joan married Frank John Anneberg on August 6, 1966. They were married for 49 years before his passing in 2015.

Joan loved all kids and was a daycare provider for most of her life.

She is survived by a daughter, Joy Campbell, Manhattan, KS; a son, Frank Anneberg, Manhattan, KS; a sister, Jan Shaneyfelt, Edman, OK; grandchildren, Stephanie Cambell, Isaac Campbell, Thomas Anneberg, Cole Anneberg, and Dylan Ross.

&nbsp; Betty June Walters, 86, of Milford, Kansas died on Thursday, July 18, 2024 at Wakefield Care and Rehabilitation Center in Wakefield, Kansas. Cremation will take place. A visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Thursday, July 25, 2024 at Johnson and Mass-Hinitt Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 26, 2024 at Kansas Veterans' Cemetery. 

Memorial contributions are suggested to be given to the Alzheimer's Association. June was born December 2, 1937 in Shelbina, Missouri the daughter of Carl and Louise (Painter) Howell. June graduated from Shelbina High School. After high school, she completed course work at a secretarial school. She was a United States Civil Servant for many years having retired at Fort Riley, Kansas. June was a member of The Retired Enlisted Association Women's Auxiliary. She was involved with First United Methodist Church in Junction City, Kansas.

June enjoyed square dancing, going to bingo, playing cards with family and friends, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren and great- grandchildren.&nbsp; In July of 1960, she married LeRoy Walters. He died in January of 2023.She is survived by her children, Jenny (Steve) of Junction City, Kansas, Ruth (Dennis) of Jay, Oklahoma and Cindy (Vernon) of Manhattan, Kansas; five grandchildren; Austin, Jesse, Michael, Christopher, Ashley and five great-grandchildren. Donna Darlene (Longbine) Bonneau, 54, of Abilene, Kansas went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 5th 2024.

Donna was born on November 1st, 1969 in Salina, Kansas to Merle and Donna (Fenn) Longbine. She graduated Solomon High School in 1988. She then pursued a nursing degree at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina and graduated with honors. Donna embarked on a remarkable career, touching countless lives with compassion and skill. Thereafter, Donna pursued diverse careers, each one a testament to her determination. Donna welcomed her first child into the world in 1985. Donna then married David Montgomery and welcomed three children and later divorced. Donna later met the love of her life, Cory Bonneau and married October 3rd, 2008. They shared 16 wonderful years and many memories together. Donna’s deep-seated passion for caring for others was evident in every aspect of her life, touching hearts and making a difference wherever she went. Donna’s children and grandchildren were the heartbeats of her world, filling her life with boundless love and joy. She loved traveling, music, cooking, shopping, spending time with friends and family, and had a love for all animals, but especially her cats.

Blaine was born August 7, 1946, in Worland, Wyoming the son of Harold Eugene and Geraldine (Pearl) Burton.Blaine was business owner and developer in Junction City, Kansas from 2004 until 2016. Prior to moving to Junction City, he was a business leader for Western Peterbuilt in Seattle, Washington from 1986 until 2004.Blaine served in the United States Marine Corp from 1966 until 1969 having served several tours in Vietnam.Blaine enjoyed playing baseball and softball with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed playing hours of cards with his wife Carla where he lost many pennies that added up over the years as many dollars. Blaine also enjoyed a good game of golf. He spent every Saturday bowling with his buddies. On November 9, 1968, he married Carla Shelton in Thermopolis, Wyoming.

He is survived by his wife Carla of Junction City, Kansas; one son, Jeffrey Burton of Denver, Colorado; one daughter, Nicole Jepsen of Junction City, Kansas; four grandchildren, Kendall and Maximus Burton, Taylor and Tristen Jepsen. Kevin Kramer, 58, of Junction City, Kansas, passed away on June 29, 2024. Cremation will follow a funeral ceremony.

Kevin was born on June 19, 1966, to Clarence and Geraldine (Wilson) Kramer in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, but he grew up in Fall Creek, Wisconsin. Growing up with a large family made him realize the importance of family. He carried the love of family all throughout his life.Kevin graduated from Fall Creek High School in the year 1984. During his school years, Kevin was an active member of choir, band, and even a member of the football team. Following graduating high school, Kevin enlisted into the U.S. Army and served honorably until his retirement in 2005. While serving, he lived all over the world to include: Korea, Germany, Kuwait, Iraq, and throughout the United States. His last duty station being Fort Riley, Kansas. This is where he made his forever home with his family.&nbsp; While in the Army, Kevin served as a Cook and would continue to prepare wonderful meals for his family even after retirement. His family would get to experience many different recipes throughout their lives. Cooking for his loved ones was one of his biggest joys.Kevin's past-times included walking his dogs, Lulu and Sunshine, around Junction City after he became an empty nester. He enjoyed watching sports, his favorite being football and the Packers. While at home, he tended to his Rose of Sharon trees and many other of his plants. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his daughters and their families. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren whenever he was able. Kevin was a family man, he always made sure to put his loved ones first.

He is survived by his loving daughters, Kayla (Jalen) Durham, Linsey Kramer, Alyssa (Madelynn) Kramer, and Alana Kramer; two brothers, Charles (Lana) Kramer and Mark (Sue) Kramer; two sisters, Connie (Gary) Kramer and Robin Kramer; twin sister, Karen (Scott) Guenard; three grandchildren, Ryatt, Naomi, and Kross and a host of other loving family and friends. He was preceded by his parents; two sisters, Nancy Kunz and Mary Mettler; one nephew, Scott Kramer and the mother of his children, Neacy Lanos-Kramer.

Susan Kathryn (Klink) Rheaume, age 72, passed away on Monday, Jun. 24, 2024, at the Good Shepherd Hospice House, Manhattan, KS. She was born on August 22, 1951, to Thomas and Betty (Nellis) Klink, Topeka, KS.

Susan married John Rheaume on Nov. 28, 1987, in Topeka, KS. She worked as an entrepreneur most of her life and lived in Manhattan for nearly 40 years. She was a big K-State fan.

Susan is survived by her loving husband, John Rheaume; son, John Michael (Jill) Rheaume, Jr., St. George, KS stepdaughter Shannon Kelly Rheaume, Eudora, KS; numerous cousins; her dog Blue; and her 3 cats, Gizmo, Trouble, and Lucy.

She was preceded in death by both parents and a brother, Christopher Klink.

Susan Kathryn (Klink) Rheaume

Janet Rita Wataha, aged 89, of Manhattan, passed away peacefully June 28, 2024, at home.

Born to parents Martha and Edward Sosnoski on March 27, 1935, in Dickinson City, PA she attended schools in Pennsylvania and New Jersey with her sister Pearl and brother Kenneth until graduating from Perth Amboy High School with the class of 1953.

She was married to Clarence ‘Clay’ Wataha on July 10, 1954, and moved to Manhattan when Clay was stationed at Ft. Riley. The newlywed couple fell in love with Manhattan and stayed after Clay was discharged from the Army.

Janet was a homemaker and a childcare provider while her kids were young and happily served as a Brownie and Girl Scout leader. She later graduated from Crum’s Beauty School earning a cosmetology license and joining Shirley Staples at The Charm Shop hair salon where she made many lifelong friends. After 11 years she left the salon to partner with Clay and their son David in numerous businesses until she retired.

In 1979 Janet and Clay built their dream home in west Manhattan where she enjoyed living with her animals (especially her Peafowl), wildlife and nature. She loved riding horses, waterskiing at Tuttle Creek Lake, and working in her greenhouse. Each week she looked forward to meeting her friends at Seven Dolors Church and catching up on the news. Her life was full, and she loved her family dearly.

Janet is survived by daughter Darlene, son-in-law Michael (Redwood City, CA) her brother Ken Sosnoski and his wife Carol (Conway, SC), sister-in-law Mary Wataha (Manhattan) and many beloved nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends. She is preceded in death by husband Clay, son David, daughters Mary and Ann and sister Pearl.

A service to celebrate Janet’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday July 11, 2024, at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Chapel in Manhattan. A private inurnment will be held at Sunset Cemetery in Manhattan.

 </figure>Janet Rita Wataha, aged 89, of Manhattan, passed away peacefully June 28, 2024, at home.Born to parents Martha and Edward Sosnoski on March 27, 1935, in Dickinson City, PA she attended schools in Pennsylvania and New Jersey with her sister Pearl and brother Kenneth until graduating from Perth Amboy High School with the class of 1953.She was married to Clarence ‘Clay’ Wataha on July 10, 1954, and moved to Manhattan when Clay was stationed at Ft. Riley. The newlywed couple fell in love with Manhattan and stayed after Clay was discharged from the Army.Janet was a homemaker and a childcare provider while her kids were young and happily served as a Brownie and Girl Scout leader. She later graduated from Crum’s Beauty School earning a cosmetology license and joining Shirley Staples at The Charm Shop hair salon where she made many lifelong friends. After 11 years she left the salon to partner with Clay and their son David in numerous businesses until she retired.In 1979 Janet and Clay built their dream home in west Manhattan where she enjoyed living with her animals (especially her Peafowl), wildlife and nature. She loved riding horses, waterskiing at Tuttle Creek Lake, and working in her greenhouse. Each week she looked forward to meeting her friends at Seven Dolors Church and catching up on the news. Her life was full, and she loved her family dearly.Janet is survived by daughter Darlene, son-in-law Michael (Redwood City, CA) her brother Ken Sosnoski and his wife Carol (Conway, SC), sister-in-law Mary Wataha (Manhattan) and many beloved nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends. She is preceded in death by husband Clay, son David, daughters Mary and Ann and sister Pearl.A service to celebrate Janet’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday July 11, 2024, at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Chapel in Manhattan. Jo Susan Bauer Sanborn at the age of 78 in Manhattan, Kansas passed away on July 3, 2024, at the Good Shepherd Hospice in Manhattan, Kansas.

Jo was born June 1, 1946, to Alfred and Ruth Bauer of Clay Center, Kansas. Jo became the right-had person her father needed on the farm as he had no other help. Jo did everything from feeding the cows to birthing the calves, driving the tractor, and carrying bales of hay. Jo’s education started early as her father read to her frequently. Jo wanted to learn to read as there was nothing else to do with no TV or friends to play with. Because of that she learned to read before she even started school. All her life she was an avid reader.

Being the unique person that she was it was not surprising that she wanted to learn to fly. She began her lessons and progressed to the point that she did her solo flights. Jo over her years worked a variety of jobs. After Jo retired from teaching, she worked at two auto dealerships. She worked for the Dick Edwards dealership, in Junction City, KS and after moving to Manhattan she worked for the Murdock dealership. No job she held was too small for her attention and too large for her ability. She always gave every job her best effort. The jobs she held over the years included: A very gifted Middle School Language Arts Teacher, Community College English teacher, Drivers Education Instructor, Corn detasseler, Auto Detailer, Auto Title clerk, Auto accounts clerk, Cleaning Motel rooms, RV sales, and Restaurant dishwasher, etc.

Jo married Donald Roles of Clay Center July 14, 1973. That marriage ended after two years in 1975. She was single several years till she married John Phelps Sanborn September 5, 1992.&nbsp;

Her parents proceeded her in death as did her two sisters Alfreda and Ann.

Survivors included: her husband John Sanborn, of the home, her step- son Jeff Sanborn and wife Julie, and step- daughter Jacque Hoisington and husband Blaik, plus five step-grand-children, and eight step-great-grandchildren.&nbsp;

She attended Grade School in Clay Center, KS and graduated from Clay Center High School in 1964. In 1968 She earned a degree in Education at Emporia State University and graduated with a 3.97 GPA. She also earned her master’s degree from Kansas State University. Her first teaching job was in the Concordia Middle School for two years. She then took a teaching position and taught Language Arts at Chapman Middle School. She remained in that position from 1970-2000.

A Celebration of Jo’s Life will be held on August 1, 2024, at 10. a.m. in morning at the College Avenue United Methodist Church in Manhattan, Kansas&nbsp; at 1609 College Avenue with Reverend John Collins officiating. Private inurnment will be held at a later date.

Jo Susan Bauer Sanborn

Charles Eugene Maxwell, 95, of Junction City, KS, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at Via Christi Village in Manhattan, KS.

Charles was born on April 5, 1929, on the family farm in Worth County, MO to John and Susa Maxwell. He enlisted in the Army at Fort Riley, KS in January, 1947. While stationed at Fort Davis, Panama, Charles met the love of his life, Rosalba Gloria Agames Martinez. They were married on June 24, 1949.

Charles returned to Fort Riley in 1966 where he retired from active duty as a Platoon Sargeant (PSG) on April 1, 1967, and settled his family in nearby Junction City. Charles continued his career as an aircraft mechanic at Marshall Field for the Department of Defense and worked another 22 years. The last 2 years, Charles worked at the USACA correctional facility as a teacher, helping to train soldiers who were leaving the army, in trades such as plumbing, carpentry, or painting to provide them with the skills to find employment in the civilian world. Charles retired from federal civil service in 1989. He took great pride in his service to his country.

Charles was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Junction City, and for many years served as a leader in AWANAS, as 4W Sunday school class teacher, in Men’s Fellowship, as well as serving as both Trustee and Deacon.

Charles was also active for many years in Gideons International, was a member of the Retired Enlisted Association and American Legion, and was a supporter of Disabled American Veterans.

Charles was predeceased by his parents; sister, Lela May; brother, Edward Junior; first wife, Gloria; second wife, Margaret Pearl Ricketts; son, Charles Eugene Maxwell, Jr.; daughter, Catherine Elaine Jackson Stanford; and granddaughter, Jamie Jackson.

Charles is survived by his sisters Anna Jean Adams of Maryville, MO, Mary Alice Maxwell of St. Joseph, MO, and Shirley Ann Shoesmith of Lee’s Summit, MO; brother Eddie Clay (Susan) of Maryville MO; daughter, Judy Waterman (Jim) of Simpsonville, SC; son, Joseph Maxwell of Manhattan, KS; daughter Donna McAlhaney (Frank) of Snellville, GA; son Lenny Maxwell (Michelle) of Owasso, OK; eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Parnell, MO at a date to be determined.

Charles Eugene Maxwell

Paul F. Miller was born July 9, 1934, in Nashville, KS to Fredrick and Elizabeth (Arensdorf) Miller. In 1952, he graduated from Zenda Hight School in Zenda, KS. He was the first in his family to attend and graduate from high school. After graduating he helped on the family farm and started his own construction business with homes and rural buildings being his specialty. On August 6, 1966, he married Linda J. Snodgrass in Willowdale, KS.

In 1972, Paul began work for Kansas Wildlife and Parks as a Game Warden initially serving Pratt, Barber and Kiowa counties. However, he soon relocated to the Manhattan area in spring 1973 where he was assigned to Riley County. He worked as a Game Warden for 10 years before he became the assistant supervisor in Law Enforcement for the Kanas Northeast region. In 1991 Paul became the Manager of Tuttle Creek State Park in Manhattan, KS and held that position until his retirement. During this time, he was instrumental in the rebuilding of the State Park after the devastating flood of 1993. Additionally, Paul was responsible for contracting the ‘Country Stampede” that brought many to the NE Kansas Community until it moved in 2019.

In Paul’s spare time, her pursued his love of fishing and quickly became Manhattan’s best-known fishman. His reputation grew around Northeast Kansas, not only for his knowledge, but for his willingness to share it with those inquiring about where the fish were biting. However, he never shared his “honey-hole.” He was known for saying that “fishing is great, but the catching varies a lot.” He truly believed he had the perfect job as it allowed him time to fish.

Paul retired from Kansas Wildlife and Parks in April 1997 and started a successful fishing guide business, mainly in the “triangle lakes” as he called them – Tuttle Creek, Milford and Council Grove. He guided professionally for 20 years until his health showed him down. He continued to enjoy visiting with folks at coffee and church, and really anyone, and usually the conversation turned to the outdoors.

Throughout his lifetime, Paul shared this love of the outdoors by serving in leadership positions and as an educator for many organizations, including: Outdoor Writers of Kansas (President), Outdoor Writers of America (Member), Riley County Fish and Game (President and lifetime member), Kansas Association of Public Employees (Member), Kansas Peace Officers Association (Member), Tuttle Creek Lake Association (President and Founder), Youth Fishing Clinic (Founder) and Knights of Columbus (4th Degree and lifetime member). Paul also provided countless seminars to the public including his “Hunting Kansas Walleye” series, Outdoor Woman classes and Hunter Safety classes. He taught “Kansas Wildlife Laws” at Kansas State University and at Fort Hays State University. However, Paul was most known for his award-winning outdoor talk show on KMAN and his weekly column in the Manhattan Mercury for many years. Of all these accomplishments, Paul was most proud of his family and all their accomplishments. He enjoyed the times with his grandsons where he could pass along his knowledge and enthusiasm of the outdoors, or just life in general. Paul was a natural educator.

Paul is survived by his daughters, Connie Miller (Tami Killham) of Manhattan, KS and Dana Choate (Joshua) of Manhattan, KS, grandsons Zephry Killman (Hannah) Manhattan, KS, Dylan Choate and Jarrod Choate Irving, TX and great-grandchildren McKesson and Marney Killham, Manhattan, KS, sisters, Mary Miller of Wichita, KS, Jeanette Gaider of Pratt, KS, as well as many nieces and nephews. His wife (Linda) and parents preceded Paul in death as well as his brother Joseph Miller and sisters Adeline Green and Joan Smith.

The family will greet friends during a visitation on Thursday July 25, 2024 from 5:30 until 7:00p.m. at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home in Manhattan.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday July 26, 2024 at the St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Manhattan.

Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday July 27, 2024 at the St. Peter’s Cemetery in Willowdale, Kansas.

Paul F. Miller

Donna Sue (Schoenthaler) Scheele passed away June 30, 2024 at Good Shepherd Hospice house in Manhattan, KS at the age of 56. She was born October 17, 1967 in Hays, KS to Oscar &amp; JoAnn Schoenthaler. She was raised on the family farm and graduated salutatorian from Ellis High School in 1986. She then attended Kansas State University and graduated in 1990.&nbsp;

She was united in marriage to Steve Scheele on May 19, 1990 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ellis. Their marriage bore 3 children and they were later divorced.

Donna spent 25 years working at United Bank &amp; Trust. She held multiple positions and was vital to the day to day operations. She finished her career as Community Bank President of the Manhattan branch. She was also elected President of the Downtown Manhattan Inc. Board of Directors and loved contributing to her community.

She was a lover of nature and the outdoors. An avid bird watcher, she spent many weekend mornings scouting out the birds on her back porch. She enjoyed hiking the Konza prairie and other trails of Kansas. She and her family and friends took many trips to Colorado to explore the mountains. She was also an avid kayaker.

When she wasn’t outdoors, Donna could be found helping her family and friends in any way she could, especially if the task called for something creative. She could always be counted on for planning a birthday party or decorating a cake, sewing a Halloween costume from scratch, or building swing sets and loft beds. She had a special love of spending time with her three granddaughters and shared many of her creative talents with them whenever they were visiting.

She is survived by her children Damen (Erica) Scheele and Jensen (Jason) Scheele-Foster; grandchildren Aubree, Lily, and Riley; mother JoAnn Schoenthaler; siblings Doug (Donna) Schoenthaler, Arthur (Sandy) Schoenthaler, Mary Jo (John) Walz, and Peggy (Troy) Rupp as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by father Oscar, brothers James &amp; Mark, and infant son Tyler.

The family will greet friends during a visitation from 6:00 until 8:0p.m. Friday July 5, 2024 at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home in Manhattan.

Funeral Services will be at 10:00a.m. Saturday July 6, 2024 at the Westview Community Church in Manhattan. Graveside services will be at 4:00p.m. Saturday at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Ellis, Kansas.

Linda A. Hofman, age 72, of Junction City, Kansas, passed away quietly at home on June 21, 2024.

Linda was born December 6, 1951, in Ft. Benning, Georgia, the daughter of Ray and Doris (Bock) Hofman. Ray’s military career had the family stationed twice in Ft. Benning, along with Ft. McClellan, Alabama and Ft. Richardson, Alaska, before coming to Manhattan in 1963. She graduated from Manhattan High School in 1969.Linda completed her BA degree from Kansas State and worked as a graphic artist in the healthcare industry for several years before returning to Kansas State to complete her teaching requirements. The next twenty-five years Linda was able to utilize her creative talents as an elementary art teacher in the Junction City school district. This position required her to travel to multiple schools within the district as well as manage art supplies for multiple class plans. She was often recognized around Junction City by many of her previous students.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents: Ray and Doris Hofman and brother Lawrence Hofman.Survivors include siblings: Jerrel Hofman (Jennifer) of Round Rock, TX, and Jeff Hofman (partner, Patricia Stevenson) of Grand Junction, CO.

Mary Joan McIlvaine, age 84, of Manhattan, passed away June 22, 2024. She was born May 26, 1940, in Detroit, Michigan, daughter of the late William F and Margaret W Marsh. Along with her parents, she was proceeded in death by her sister Margaret Bates and brother William Marsh.

Joan was a special education teacher at Theodore Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson Schools for many years. In 1999, she was nominated for Master Teacher of the year. While raising her children, she was actively involved with the Manhattan Marlins swim team, Manhattan High Football and Cross-Country teams. Upon her retirement, she volunteered her time with Wounded Warriors, Shepherd’s Crossing, Seven Dolors Catholic Church, and was actively involved in the Little Apple Pilot group. Joan was a member of NEA of Manhattan, Pilot International, and Kansas Big Brothers/Big Sisters. She served as President of Big Brothers Big Sisters, Little Apple Pilot Club and Shepherd’s Crossing. In 2022, she was nominated for Distinguished Volunteer of the Year for the Greater Manhattan Community. Her joy throughout her life was found in her faith. Joan was an active member of the Seven Dolors Catholic Church and lived in the Manhattan community for over 50 years.

Joan is survived by her children and their spouses, Joseph and Sue McIlvaine, Douglas and Amy McIlvaine, and Andrew and Angie McIlvaine; and grandchildren, Kaylee Marusarz (Brian), Amanda McIlvaine, Sarah McIlvaine, Ryan McIlvaine (Miranda), Lauren McIlvaine, Chace McIlvaine, Mary McIlvaine, and Cade McIlvaine.

The family will greet friends during a visitation on Monday, July 8, 2024 from 6 until 7:30 p.m. with the Rosary following at 7:30 p.m. at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, July 9 at 10:00 a.m. at Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Manhattan. Interment will be held at Sunrise Cemetery. There will be a luncheon following interment at Seven Dolors Catholic Church.

Mary Joan McIlvaine

James Ray Dille was born July 30, 1960, in St. Louis, MO to George Russell Dille and Daisy Rae (Mahoney) Dille and died June 23, 2024. He was 63 years old.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his mother, Daisy, and his grandparents.&nbsp;

He grew up in Topeka, KS, graduated from Topeka West HS in 1978, and graduated with a BS in Anthropology from Kansas State University in 1987. He worked for nearly 30 years at K-State as a lab animal technician for the Comparative Medicine Group (CMG) in the College of Veterinary Medicine, research technologist at the Biosecurity Research Institute (BRI) between 2014-22, and recently as Facility Manager for the CMG.

On December 2, 2008, he married Cynthia Faye Knauft, the love of his life. They cherished each other and spent 30 years together. James is survived by his father George, his brother Russell (Anita), nephews George (Anna), Clint (Emma), and Jacob, two great-nephews (Ellis and Hayes) and one great niece (Rylen Rae). James is also survived by his mother-in-law Patsy R. Liggett, brother-in-law Charles F. Knauft IV (Charlene) with nephew Chaz (Sencia) and niece Nikole (Michael Neuterman) and great-nephews Adrian and Jackson, and brother-in-law Christopher F. Knauft (Britt) and nieces Sara and Emma. He is also survived by his uncle James F. Dille (Mary), uncle James ‘Buddy’ Mahoney, and many cousins.

James and Cynthia spent much of their time together in Manhattan, KS. James had many animals he loved throughout his life, especially Hardly (hardly big enough to be called a dog), Coco (retired Therapy Dog), Ralphie (retired Therapy Dog that would forget who James was if he was in the basement too long), and beloved black cat, KittyKitty, along with a menagerie of other rescue animals and birds. They were season ticket holders for K-State Women’s Basketball and cheered on the Lady Cats together with George and Daisy for many seasons. James enjoyed all K-State sports teams and together they were avid KC Royals and Chiefs fans.

James, also known as JR or Jay to his friends and family, loved to stay connected with everyone that crossed paths with him through life. He could recall the names and birthdays and other details of every friend and interaction at the drop of a hat. On his motorcycle rides around the US, he would be sure to reach out and visit people he knew. He enjoyed being outdoors and liked to hunt, fish, and do rock climbing. Nearly every summer, James would go on a one-week motorcycle trip and meet up with his fellow FJR riders. His favorite road to ride was Spearfish Canyon, in Spearfish, SD, and he was returning from there when this tragic accident took place.

Services to remember James will be on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at 2:00 p.m.&nbsp; at the Westmoreland United Methodist Church, 109 Main St., Westmoreland, KS 66549. After the service and visitation, his ashes will be scattered at 3:30 p.m. near to his mother, Daisy, across the Kansas Flint Hills on the Dille Farm near Olsburg, KS.

Earnest (Earnie) Worley Jr., age 96, passed away at the Legends Assisted Living Facility in Topeka on Friday, June 28, 2024.

He was born on June 8, 1928 in Prairie, AR. Earnie was married to Ottilie for 68 wonderful years. During his longtime residence in Manhattan, after retiring from the Army with 20 years, he worked for the city of Manhattan in the water works division for 20 years, retired and then drove a school bus for 14 years until needing to retire for good.

Earlier in his life he loved to bowl. He enjoyed collecting school busses, and he loved the challenge of putting together a difficult puzzle in the puzzle room, or playing bingo with the ladies.

He is survived by his two children Beverly Kearbey and Rici Worley of Topeka, KS; two grandchildren Rachel Headrick of St. Louis, Mo and Christopher Headrick (and wife Rachael) of Rolla, MO; five great-grandchildren, Kessah Headrick of St. Louis, MO, Colton Headrick (and wife Elizabeth) of Rolla, MO., Cayden Headrick of Springfield, MO, Anna Headrick of Columbia, MO; two great-great-grandchildren, Kyler Headrick of St. Louis, MO and Maddie Headrick of Rolla, MO.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Ottilie (Tilly); his parents Earnest and Flora; one sister Kathleen; one brother Gerald; a son Roger Lee Worley; and a grandson Jonathan Headrick.

Robert Ray Yeager, 80 of St. George KS passed away peacefully June 27, 2024. He was born 10, January 1944 at Salina, Kansas, the son of Guy Emmitt Yeager, Jr. and Anna Mary (Keim) Yeager.

He grew up in Tescott, Kansas, working in his father’s mechanic shop from the age of five years old. He attended Tescott High School where he participated in football, basketball, track, and the school play. He graduated as valedictorian from Tescott High School in 1962. That summer he worked the night shift at the missile airfield.

He attended Kansas State University for three years before getting drafted into the Military in 1966. After basic training he was selected for Officer Candidate School and became Major Robert R Yeager. He spent 22 months of active duty overseas.

Bob worked in the retired reserves for 35 years before retiring in 2004. Even before retiring he loved to read and started a library in his house.&nbsp; Since retiring, his passion for knowledge and reading continued, eventually having custom bookshelves made for his Chilton Book collection. In the winter he spent his time writing his own index for his airplane books because the one that came with the book was not good enough.&nbsp;&nbsp;In the summer he loved to be outside tinkering with his tractors and hay equipment getting ready for hay season.

Two brothers survive Bob, William Yeager and wife Judy of Georgia, Donald Yeager of Park KS, a sister Maryetta Wann of Hays KS, his children Gena Lorene Craney (Jacob), Anna Marie Fritzson (Mark), Wade Quincy Yeager, and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son George Brandon Yeager and his parents Guy, Jr., and Anna Mary Yeager.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday July 19, 2024, at the Lighthouse Baptist Church, 308 Lincoln in St. George. Private inurnment will be held at the Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery at Fort Riley in Manhattan.

&nbsp;Wilma C. Schoendaller, 93, of Junction City, Kansas passed away on Friday, June 21, 2024, at Via Christi Village in Manhattan, Kansas.

 A Mass of Christian Burial will take place 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 28, 2024, at St. Xavier Catholic Church with Fr. Kerry Ninemire officiating. The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Johnson Funeral Home followed with a rosary at 7 p.m. The burial will follow the service at St. Mary's Cemetery.

Wilma was born the oldest of three children to John G. and Margaret (Koerner) Befort on July 8, 1930, in Ellis County, Kansas. Growing up on the farm, Wilma learned early on the importance of hard work. She was a homemaker and enjoyed crocheting along with embroidery work. Wilma was married to Adam J. Schoendaller on October 10, 1949, at Munjor, Kansas. To this union four children were born: Lou Ann, Betty, Mary, and Larry. 

Wilma is survived by one sister, Georgine Staab of Hays, Kansas; three daughters, Lou Ann Milleson of Chapman, Kansas, Betty Anders of Junction City, Kansas, and Mary (Jim) Stites of Junction City, Kansas; one daughter-in-law, Brenda (Rod) Gfeller of Junction City, Kansas; eight grandchildren, Cathy Fahey, Dano Milleson, Dusty Milleson, Kevin Cain, Ryan Anders, Andy Stites, Adam Stites, and Molly Vacanti; twelve great- grandchildren, and four great great-grandchildren. Wilma was preceded by her parents, husband, son; sister, Verna Herl; two sons-in-law, Don Anders and Danny Milleson.

 </figure>&nbsp;Wilma C. Schoendaller, 93, of Junction City, Kansas passed away on Friday, June 21, 2024, at Via Christi Village in Manhattan, Kansas. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 28, 2024, at St. Xavier Catholic Church with Fr. Kerry Ninemire officiating. The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Johnson Funeral Home followed with a rosary at 7 p.m. The burial will follow the service at St. Mary's Cemetery.Wilma was born the oldest of three children to John G. and Margaret (Koerner) Befort on July 8, 1930, in Ellis County, Kansas. Growing up on the farm, Wilma learned early on the importance of hard work. She was a homemaker and enjoyed crocheting along with embroidery work. Wilma was married to Adam J. Schoendaller on October 10, 1949, at Munjor, Kansas. To this union four children were born: Lou Ann, Betty, Mary, and Larry.
