SHAWNEE COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas man for alleged burglary.
Just before 10p.m. Wednesday, police were dispatched to a burglary in progress to a vehicle near SW 4th Street and SW Van Buren Street in downtown Topeka, according to police spokesperson Gretchen Spiker.
While officers were responding to the scene, witnesses provided detailed suspect information. Police located a man matching the description walking near SW 3rd Street and SW Van Buren Street and took him into custody.
Officers located stolen items in the suspect’s possession. The stolen items were returned to the victim.
As a result of the investigation, Ezkekiel P. Rhoten, 59 of Topeka booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on requested charges of Burglary; Vehicle to commit felony, theft or sexually motivated crime, Theft < $1,500 Pocket-Picking, Interference with LEO; obstruct/resist/oppose felony warrant service or execution Use/possess w/intent to use drug paraphernalia into human body.
