Sheriff ID's Kansas woman who died after SUV rear-ends semi

HARVEY COUNTY—Authorities have released the identity of the woman who died in an accident south of Newton on Tuesday morning in Harvey County.

 An SUV driven by Amiee Baker, 33, of Sedgwick  was northbound in the 5600 block of South Kansas Avenue when the vehicle rear-ended a semi truck that was stopped to make a delivery to a home, according to the sheriff's department.

Baker was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation, according to the Sheriff's Department. The Kansas Highway Patrol’s Critical Highway Accident Response Team is assisting in the investigation.

Traffic was closed in both directions of South Kansas Avenue until 5:30p.m., according to the sheriff's department.
