Update: Deputies capture suspect wanted in fatal Kan. shooting

JACKSON COUNTY— Deputies took Jason M. Thomas, 37 of Topeka, into custody Monday afternoon after a detective saw him leave a residence in Delia, Kansas, according to Sheriff Tim Morse.

Thomas is wanted in connection with the Saturday morning fatal shooting of 35-year-old Matthew Pressler  at a home in the 300 Block of SW Roosevelt Street in Topeka, according to police.

SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a fatal weekend shooting and are asking the public for help to locate a suspect identified as 37-year-old Jason M. Thomas of Topeka.

Just before 3a.m. Saturday police responded to a shooting in the 300 block of SW Roosevelt Street in Topeka, according to LT Matt Danielson.

When officers arrived on scene, they found  35-year-old Matthew Pressler of Topeka suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

On Monday police reminded the public, if you see Thomas, call 911 immediately and do not attempt to apprehend him yourself. You can report past sightings by emailing [email protected]. Anonymous tips can be reported to Crime Stoppers at 785-234-0007.
