BARBER COUNTY—Authorities are investigating the cause of a fire at a solar farm.
On Saturday afternoon, crews responded to the Pixley Solar Facility, 7381 SE Blackmore Road, owned and operated by Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO), near Medicine Lodge, according to a social media report from Barber County Emergency Management.
Fire response teams were on site and following established protocols and the specialized guidance they’ve received for this type of incident at the Pixley facility.
No injuries have been reported, and there is no current danger to the environment or human health from the fire.
Fire officials were assessing damage, and next steps for this facility to determine the post-incident root-cause analysis in collaboration with the site operations team and PSO leadership.
PSO continues to monitor the site with full-time staff and fire crews on site to ensure continued safety. Barber County Emergency Management will perform a full site assessment to determine what post-event environmental analysis is needed.
