KANSAS CITY —Firefighters helped two residents escape from a house fire in Kansas City.
Just after 8p.m. Thursday, crews responded to a reported house fire in the 300 block of Wheeling in Kansas City, according to Battalion Chief Michael Hopkins.
First responders reported heavy fire from a two-story home. Upon making entry to the structure crews encountered one occupant who is wheelchair bound. They assisted the individual out of the structure and to the EMS sector for evaluation. She was treated on scene and released.
A second occupant was found in the rear of the structure near the stairs. She was also assisted out of the structure. Both victims were uninjured. The fire was quickly brought under control. The cause of the fire is under investigation by KCFD. Red Cross will be ordered for five adults.
