KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement are investigating another homicide in Kansas City.
Just after 8p.m. Thursday, police were dispatched to the intersection of E. 34th Street and Garfield Avenue on a reported shot spotter, a gunshot detection system activation, according to KCPD Officer Alayna Gonzalez.
While officers were enroute to the original call for service an additional call came in of a reported shooting in the same area. Officers located EMS personnel assisting a woman, later identified as 44-year-old Ebony Davis out of a vehicle who was suffering from apparent gunshot trauma. She was immediately transferred to an area where she succumbed to her injuries and was declared deceased, according to Gonzalez.
Preliminary investigation indicates the gunshots came from outside of the vehicle, striking the woman who was inside of a vehicle.
Police do not have a person of interest identified and no one is in custody. Homicide detectives and crime scene personnel responded to the scene to begin collecting evidence and gather witness statements.
