KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a deadly mass shooting in Kansas City.
Just after 2a.m. Monday, police on patrol near 70th St. and Gregory Boulevard in Kansas City heard gunshots, according to Sheriff Daryl Forte'.
A gunshot victim contacted the officers and was rushed to a nearby hospital. First responders found another shooting victim a short distance away who was pronounced deceased, according to KCPD Officer Alayna Gonzalez.
Investigators determined a large gathering turned violent following an argument between people in attendance. Several people engaged in gunfire, leaving behind dozens of bullet casings lying in the street.
Police do not know as of 8:15 a.m. how many people in total were there at the gathering, how many people had guns, and how many people fired shots.
No kids were present and involved.
EMS and private vehicles transported six to area hospitals, according to Gonzalez. She did not have details on the extent or type of injuries.
Police did not have anyone in custody and have not reported suspect information.
