WAMEGO, Kan. — Manhattan High School's girls golf team took 4th place at the Wamego Country Club on Tuesday with a team total of 387. Team total wise, MHS tied with Wamego; however, Manhattan High's 5th golfer posted a lower score, breaking the tie and giving MHS 4th place outright.

Head Coach Paige McCarthy was pleased with her team's effort, stating that it sets her team up for the rest of the season.

"We left a lot of shots out there, but Wamego Country Club is a very tough course," said McCarthy. "And with our youth and lack of varsity experience, it was a good day and will be great to build upon."

The Lady Indians were led by freshman Kaitlyn Lagabed, who tied for 17th with a 94. Sophomore Rylee Wisdom was close behind, posting a 95 and tying for 20th. Emily Wuggazer, another MHS freshman placed 25th with a 98, junior Lexi Smith shot an even 100 to tie for 29th, and senior Lizzy Tauschek placed 38th with a 103.

The Lady Indians' next varsity tournament will be Tuesday, September 14th at the Hayden Invitational at Shawnee Country Club.
