Brother of 14-year-old Kan. shooting victim accused in his death

SEDGWICK COUNTY, Kan. — Law enforcement  investigating a fatal shooting at a Wichita area mobile home park that left 14-year-old  Jesus Merino Terrero dead have a suspect in custody.

On Wednesday, April 29, detectives booked the victim’s 17-year-old brother into the Sedgwick County Juvenile Intake and Assessment Facility, according to Sheriff's Department spokesman Branden Stitt.

At about 3 a.m. Tuesday, deputies responded to medical call involving a shooting in the 3200 block of East MacArthur Road, according to Stitt.

First responders arrived and found Jesus Merino Terrero, 14, who lived at the home, suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. Despite life-saving efforts, he died at the scene.

The 17-year-old brother is being held on requested charges that include two felony counts of criminal possession of a weapon and one count of aggravated child endangerment in connection with the shooting.
