SEDGWICK COUNTY —A Kansas man arrested in connection with a violent attack on a teen made his first court appearance Friday.

Dominic Thomas is charged with 2 counts of attempted 1st degree murder and criminal threat, according to the Sedgwick County Attorney's Office.

Just after 10 p.m. on Sept. 21, police responded to an assault report at a home in the 3900 block of North Litchfield in Wichita, according to officer Charley Davidson

Upon arrival, officers contacted a 17-year-old girl who was visibly shaken and wet. The investigation revealed 19-year-old Dominic Thomas and the victim were talking near a pond at 37th Street North and Sullivan when a disturbance occurred.

During the disturbance, Thomas battered the girl, drug her to a nearby pond and held her head under the water. Thomas then released her and fled.

Officers later located Thomas, and he was arrested without further incident.
