Candidates were asked to limit their responses to each of the following questions to 200 words or less.

Name:  Shane Eslit
Age:  37
Profession: Teacher
Incumbent:  At Large Position
Do you have children or grandchildren who attend(ed) USD 378 Riley County schools? Yes, I have 2 children that currently attend Riley County Schools.

-Why are you running for school board? I love the Riley County Schools and community. I want to stay connected to this community and be a part of the district that means so much to our family. Leaving Riley County to teach in another district was not one that was done hastily or without a heavy heart. I want to continue to serve this community in any capacity that I can.

-Parental engagement and community involvement are crucial for the success of any school district. What strategies would you implement to increase collaboration between parents, citizens, and educators? Parental engagement and community starts with communication and transparency. I want parents, citizens and educators to see school board members as approachable. With an "Open Door Policy." We need to listen to our stakeholders and work together to address the needs of our district.

-If you had one thing you could change about the USD 378 school district, what would it be?  I'm not looking to change anything about our school district. Riley County is a great place to be because of the traditions it has established and will continue.

-What is your opinion of the USD 378 administration? Do you think you could work with the current administration moving forward? I know several of the administration. Working with them in the past and knowing the great responsibility that they have in their position. I have nothing but respect. As for the ones I do not know, I look forward to working with and getting to know them.

-What is your opinion of the current school board? Do you think you could compromise with the incumbents who will remain on the board?  Can't say that I have any strong opinions, only that I look forward to working with them to make Riley County School the very best for our kids.

-What do you think the board’s role should be in the day-to-day operations of the district? I think the board's role is to be a facilitator. Allow the building administrators, teachers, and classified staff to do their jobs because ultimately, they are the boots on the ground. They see the "in's and out's" of the job and understand the needs of our kids.

-Have you received money or in-kind donations from individuals, businesses, groups or PACs outside of the school district? I have not.
