BARTON COUNTY — A Kansas teen died in an accident just before 4:30p.m. Tuesday in Barton County.
According to Barton County Sheriff Brian Bellendir, a 2013 Chevy Malibu driven by 15-year-old Murphy Woodmansee of Great Bend was southbound on U.S. 281 near the 4-H building between Hoisington and Great Bend.
The vehicle crossed the center line and struck a 2021 Kenworth semi loaded with sand and driven by Sean Guesnier, a, 62, Great Bend
Woodmancy, a student at Hoisington High School, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Bellendir. Guesnier sustained minor injuries in the collision.
U.S. 281 was closed until approximately 8 p.m. while debris was removed from the highway with heavy equipment.
The accident remains under investigation, according to Bellendir.
