GEARY COUNTY —The Geary County / Junction City dive team members responded to Milford Lake Thursday afternoon to pull a pickup truck out of the water in the Farnum Creek area approximately eight miles north of Junction City. There were no injuries.
According to Captain David Gilbert of the Geary County Sheriff's Department, the vehicle belonged to Fort Riley MWR and was being used to help test a boat to ensure it was running properly. The boat was not damaged, and was unhooked from its' trailer at the time of the incident.
The pickup truck was in the water for about one and half hours before it was pulled out by the dive team. The parking brake was set on the truck when it was pulled out of the water so it was unclear if the vehicle had not completely gotten into park.
