SEDGWICK COUNTY —A stunt rider is going to prison for a fatal hit-and-run that killed a Kansas woman in 2023.
On Friday, a Sedgwick County judge sentenced 23-year-old Chase Faimon of Valley Center to 30-months in prison for the death of 48-year-old Kristine Sheffield, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office.
In June pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and leaving the scene of the accident.
Police arrested Faimon as part of a police Stunt Rider Project investigation.
On May 27, 2023 the Wichita Police Department Traffic Unit witnessed Faimon riding his motorcycle west on Waterman in Wichita doing a wheelie. Officers cautiously followed Faimon to the parking garage of Gander Mountain, contacted him, and placed him under arrest.
During the investigation, officers learned that Faimon had previously been charged with murder in the 2nd degree after hitting a pedestrian with his motorcycle.
In that case, Faimon was doing a wheelie down Broadway in Wichita when he struck the pedestrian identified as Sheffield and killed her.
Officers impounded the motorcycle that Faimon was riding.
