The Wabaunsee Chargers (5-3), will open postseason play on the road this Friday when they travel to Marion (7-1).

This will be the second all-time meeting between the two sides, with Wabaunsee getting the better of the Warriors 22-14 in last year's playoffs.

“We're excited to be in the playoffs," Charger head coach Jess Rutledge said. "We've had a season of ups and downs, especially with injuries, but the post-season is a special time and anything can happen. Nothing on Friday will be easy, Marion is an incredibly talented squad with a lot of size and very good football players. We'll need to bring our A-game to win but we're confident in our capabilities.”

The winner of this matchup will advance to the round of 16 in this year's 1A playoff to take on either Smith Center (7-1) or Belle Plaine (3-5).

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 at Marion High School.
