KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement are investigating a homicide in Kansas City, Missouri have identified the victim as 26-year-old Devonte J. Shockley.
Just after 08:30a.m. Thursday, police were dispatched to report of a shooting at Truman and Cleveland, according to KCPD Captain Jake Becchina.
On arrival officers located a vehicle that appeared to have gunshot damage that had come to rest at that location. Inside that vehicle was an adult male shooting victim, later identified as Shockley, who was unresponsive.
EMS responded and declared Shockley deceased at the scene.
Preliminary investigation indicates Shockley the lone occupant inside the vehicle as it was traveling westbound, when gunfire came from outside the vehicle to the inside, striking him.
There is not any available suspect information at this time, and no one is in custody.
