SHAWNEE COUNTY—Law enforcement investigating a burglary have captured a suspect.
Just after 3p.m. Thursday, police responded to a reported traffic-related call for service in the 2900 block of SW 31st Court in Topeka, according tp Police Captain Jerry Monasmith.
At the scene, officers identified the individual involved as Shawn M. Ward, 26, of Topeka, who is a suspect in an ongoing aggravated burglary and auto theft investigation.
Officers attempted to initiate a car stop, but Ward failed to comply. Additional units were requested to assist. After a brief period, Ward was taken into custody without further incident.
As a result of the investigation, Ward was arrested and transported to the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on requested charges of Aggravated burglary, Misdemeanor theft from a Building, Felony theft of a motor vehicle, Criminal use of a financial card, Criminal Trespass and Felony obstruction; interference with a Law Enforcement Officer.
