SEDGWICK COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a suspect involved in a hit-and-run accident that injured a 7-year-old boy.

Just after 1p.m. Saturday, at 1:15 pm, police were dispatched to a hit-and-run accident involving a child in the 2000 block of North Minnesota, according to Officer Chad Ditch.

Officers arrived on the scene and learned a 7-year-old boy was riding his bicycle and was struck by a southbound vehicle on Minnesota Street. EMS transported the boy to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators learned Thompson-Johnson was driving her gray 2004 Chevy Trailblazer southbound on Minnesota when the 7-year-old was crossing the street on his bicycle.

Thompson-Johnson attempted to swerve and miss, struck the boy and sped off at a high rate of speed, according to Ditch.

Witnesses spoke to police and after a substantial amount of research, officers spotted Thompson-Johnson driving in a different vehicle away from a known location for her.

Police stopped the vehicle in the 6100 block of West Kellogg Dr and arrested her on requested charges of Aggravated Battery and failure to stop at an accident resulting in great bodily harm. The child remained  hospitalized late Sunday, according to police.
