MCPHERSON— Tucky Allen with KansasWorkforceONE confirmed to Hutch Post Thursday morning that there have been layoffs at Pfizer in McPherson and that it was a reduction of 80 workers between Wednesday and Thursday.
Allen said he would be meeting with those who were laid off and provided dislocated worker services and will be hosting a Q & A next week for the affected employees.
This action does not affect production. These were professional/salaried positions. The McPherson, Kansas site specializes in manufacturing sterile injectable medicines used daily in hospitals around the world, according to the company web site.
This job action follows layoffs for the drugmaker in Ireland this fall, amid larger cost cutting measures.
