KANSAS CITY —One person died from injures in an accident that occurred just after 10p.m. Friday in Kansas City.
A Hyundai Elantra was making a left turn from southbound North Oak onto eastbound 79th Terrace in Kansas City, according to Police Captain Jake Becchina.
The Hyundai entered the intersection and was struck by a Chevrolet Malibu that was northbound on North Oak.
EMS transported the driver, front seat passenger and rear seat passenger of the Hyundai to a North Kansas City Hospital. The rear seat passenger had critical injuries and was pronounced deceased on Saturday, according to Becchina.
The driver of the Chevrolet was uninjured in the collision. The driver and occupants of the Hyundai were not wearing seat belts, according to Becchina. Police have not released the name of the victims. This is fatality #53 in KCMO this year compared to #49 at this time last year. The accident remains under investigation.
