Sheriff: Pickup struck, killed Kansas woman pushing bicycle

SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a fatal accident that left a Kansas woman dead.

 A Ford F150 pickup truck was westbound in the 6000 Block SE U.S. 40 Highway and struck a woman identified as 63-year-old Patricia S. McDonald who was pushing a bicycle in the roadway, according to Shawnee County Sheriff's Deputy Abigail Christian.

Just before 10 a.m. Wednesday, the Shawnee County Emergency Communications Center received a phone call reporting the accident.  Deputies located McDonald's body just off the roadway.

SE US 40 Highway between SE Dupont Road and SE Green Road. SE Shawnee Heights Road were temporarily closed between SE 10th Street and SE US 40 Highway during the investigation.

The driver of the vehicle is cooperating with law enforcement, according to Christian.

Upon arrival, deputies located a deceased female just off the roadway.

At this time, investigators are currently on scene.

SE US 40 Highway is currently closed between SE Dupont Road and SE Green Road. SE Shawnee

Heights Road is currently closed between SE 10th Street and SE US 40 Highway.
